Age is no barrier!

Sophie Dowson, 16, edged her personal best up to 3.62m in winning the pole vault at the London Inter-Club Challenge at Hendon. Rosalind Zeffertt recorded 15.64 and 33.68 for 100m and 200m to improve her UK V50 ranking at both distances. Zeffertt comprehensively beat Olympic athlete Eric Shirley in the latter event. However it must be admitted that, although he is the country's leading V85 age group athlete, Shirley has slowed somewhat since he partnered gold medallist Chris Brasher in the 1956 Olympic steeplechase final.

Anna Barnett, 16, took discus victory (33.81m) at the UK Youth Development League at Hendon. Rebecca Hurley, 17, took almost 2 seconds off her 400m hurdles best in placing third in 69.90, while George Grant won the pole vault ‘B’ event with 3.80m.
Eden Davis gained a double victory in the Southern League at Welwyn, taking the 100m in 11.2 and 200m in 23.2. Highgate Harrier Tal Pelmont, 15, set two new personal bests in winning the 800m (2:11.9) and placing third in the 1500m (4:39.9) in the Southern Athletics League at Parliament Hill. Ben Bloom, 11, lowered his  800m best to 2:29.56 at the Watford Open Graded Meeting. Lia Radus recorded 4:56.15 for 1500m at the British Milers Club at Eltham, missing her PB by just 0.01s.
